I founded Equity Release Supermarket in 2008 and although Founder and CEO, I still enjoy getting involved in helping advisers and clients with advice on equity release schemes including Lifetime mortgages, Home reversion, RIOs & Retirement mortgages. This gives me a 'hands-on' approach which I feel is invaluable in keeping in touch with current lifetime mortgage schemes and what the consumer is looking for.
Using this experience of 20+ years in the equity release market, one of my passions is sharing this knowledge in writing articles about equity release solutions for prospective customers. Having been an adviser, sitting with clients and advising them, I have first-hand experience of knowing the typical questions they ask, but also providing more technical detail where appropriate.
I have been in financial services since leaving school and including the years leading up to founding Equity Release Supermarket in 2008. I have gained invaluable experience during my years at some of the larger insurance companies both past and present - including Prudential, Eagle Star, Sun Alliance, General Accident & Norwich Union/Aviva.
It was my time with Aviva that gave my first insight into the Equity Release marketplace in the late 90's, so much so that I can still remember my first ever advised case! Since then I have witnessed many times the effect that equity release and lifetime mortgages can have on proving such a positive impact and how it can change people's lives for the better.
For this reason, myself and my senior team have strong beliefs in how equity release should be advised and presented to clients using our unique transparent approach. Getting to know each and every customer is key to our proposition and then the delivery and care in handling every application to completion is an area we really focus on. This can be evidenced by our customer reviews on FEEFO, which as a business owner too makes me so proud.
I live in Bolton and I'm a lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan. Both my sons - Jamie and Josh work for the company in my IT department and are responsible for ensuring we provide quality education and research tools such as smartER - your personal equity release research tool, which help our customers find out more for themselves about equity release.
